Kabelo is from a small rural area south of Durban called Adams Mission

Home of one of the oldest colleges in KZN Adams College. I was raised by a single mother, who’s hard work is the only thing I have ever needed to motivate myself to do better, I have been lucky to have grown up around and with my grand parents, who also were the most hard working people I knew and we never went hungry, so I’m one of those people that feel like I’m doing something wrong if I’m just sitting with nothing to do, my grand father literally rested when he died, he could not keep still.

 

I attended Durban high school and matriculated 2008, and after finding much interest in technical drawing I thought I should study architecture, only to find out it has nothing to do with technical drawing and I would have been better off having taken art…

I am thinker sometimes a too much, I have fallen in love with the study of architecture and I am also terrified of it for many reasons one is that if you care about it enough it pushes you to a breaking point and if you care enough it is also challenging.

 

I hold a diploma from the Durban university of technology, I never saw myself doing BTech but some how after the first graduation you think why not go a little step further and once in btech you might as well go and get that masters, I mean who wouldn’t want an official looking piece of card board that says “Kabelo Winston Mokoena is a Master of architecture” right?

 

I have had a great deal of experience with different project unfortunately many have not gone to site (politics) so I am not satisfied with doing work that ends up on paper, seeing what you have worked on increases greatly your architectural abilities and being able to thing on a higher level when doing details knowing how they are built on site, so im looking for that kind of experience

 

I work well with other people I am punctual well mannered neat young man(27) with terrible stage freight(working on that ) my next mission is a Masters in Urban design and human settlements but I am looking to do that in 2 years time, for now I just want to gain that experience and grow as an architectural technologist, I could go on but you don’t have that kind of time…
